cd drive

i really know nothing about computers...i mean, i know a little bit, but really not so much!! anyways, i have an emachines computer, and the cd drive has crapped out. it is still under warantee, but i would have to ship the damn thing off to california and then wait for it to come back for them to fix it. personally, i would rather just buy a cd drive myself and install it myself (i do know that much that i could probably install it myself). i don't want anything with tons of bells and whistles, just something that will read cds. i use the computer to play games mostly anyways....sims2, zoo tycoon, etc. so i found this, and i'm wondering if it will work: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9222101&st=cd+drive&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1218062117221
my biggest concern would be that it wouldn't fit in the machine. any tips? should i just bite the bullet and lose my computer for weeks so they can fix it? should i attempt to do it myself? anybody have experience with sending their machine off? was it a good experience? a bad one?

thanks in advance!!

Pretty much all CD/DVD drives will be the same size and come with pretty easy to follow instructions on how to install them.

If you were planning on buying one online, I would go someplace other than Best Buy, mostly because they charge way too much. Check www.newegg.com, www.mwave.com, or www.tigerdirect.com, or even Amazon for better deals.
