laptop to tv question

I have a tv that has just about every connection you can have. I can hook up my laptop to the tv using a monitor cable and an audio cord, but I only have one of each so I have to borrow them off my desktop (or just hook the desktop to the tv). The tv has HDMI inputs, and I was browsing online to see if there was a cord I could use on my laptop with HDMI...my laptop doesn't have an hdmi outlet at all though, just the regulars (usb, monitor cable, etc).
So I found some cords that were usb to hdmi. (http://www.amazon.com/High-Quality-Black-DisplayPort-Cable/dp/B002CSRF9M/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1295804342&sr=8-4)...hope that link works
anyways, I am wondering if I use that cable, will it work for sound as well as picture? What I'm trying to say is...will I need a separate cord for the audio?
thanks in advance!

It might work, but it depends more on your computer than anything else. You might want to do a search to see if your computer model is compatible with DisplayPort interface. It could be that it may only support video out.
